The Challenge

As Flanders’ largest public transport operator, De Lijn needed more than just technology—it required uncompromising quality and operational excellence. From validating new ticketing platforms to guaranteeing seamless service delivery, the challenge was to build a foundation that could support millions of daily passenger journeys while meeting the highest standards in control, compliance, and user experience.

The Solution

In 2012, Tesla Networks was selected to co-create De Lijn’s new service center, with a laser-sharp focus on quality control, system validation, and process reliability. From day one, we took on the role of guardians of quality, implementing test protocols and performance benchmarks that ensured every new system met real-world demands.
 

Over the years, this collaboration deepened. Our mission evolved from one-off validations to systematic optimization across De Lijn’s entire operational landscape. We became a long-term quality partner, trusted to continuously assess and refine both software and hardware systems on board the vehicles and within the broader network.
 

In 2014, we enabled secure mobile connectivity across the entire fleet—ensuring safe, real-time communication with back-office systems. Simultaneously, we supported the rollout of passenger Wi-Fi on trams, enhancing customer experience while maintaining high-performance standards.
 

In 2020, Tesla Networks helped integrate a new contactless payment system, extending our role from network architects to quality enablers of smart, frictionless ticketing solutions.
 

Today, we’re co-designing De Lijn’s future on-board architecture: a scalable, data-driven platform built on modern ICT standards—with quality assurance at its core.
